Cellulite
What is cellulite?
Cellulite, often referred to as “orange peel skin,” gives the skin an uneven and dimpled texture. It is particularly difficult to eliminate, even with a balanced diet, regular physical activity, or frequent use of massages and specialized creams.
This aesthetic condition results from a complex phenomenon affecting the structure of the subcutaneous tissues, which explains why it persists despite efforts to reduce it.
Causes of cellulite
Cellulite appears in different forms, each with its own characteristics.
Fibrous cellulite, recognizable by its pronounced “orange peel” texture, is mainly caused by the breakdown of collagen surrounding fat cells, making the tissues less flexible and more rigid.
Adipose cellulite, on the other hand, often results from a diet high in fats and sugars. If the energy consumed is not burned through physical activity, it is stored as fat. These fat cells then accumulate under the skin, become congested, and intensify the appearance of cellulite.
Finally, aqueous cellulite is linked to poor lymphatic circulation, often accompanied by water retention, causing tissue swelling and less toned skin.
